A Full-Circle Commitment

A Full-Circle Commitment

For Hugh and Gayle Clark, Wake Tech isn't just a place they support. It's part of their story.

Hugh's journey with Wake Tech began in the early 1980s, when he studied accounting while preparing for a career that would span 24 years as a vocational education teacher in both private and public schools. He returned to Wake Tech years later to continue building his skills through technology coursework and spent his final 12 years in education as a Technology Specialist for Wake County and Chapel Hill‑Carrboro Schools. Along that winding path, he carried forward a lesson that would shape both his career and his worldview: success doesn't always follow a straight path. Education, he believes, should meet people where they are and open doors to wherever their journey leads. This belief is at the heart of the Clarks' generosity.

Guided by a deep commitment to opportunity and service, Hugh and Gayle have established a scholarship, the Hubert and Gayle Clark Scholarship Endowment, for students pursuing careers in skilled trades and healthcare - fields that strengthen our communities and offer life-changing career paths. They understand how transformative timely support can be, especially for students whose paths may look different but are filled with promise.

Through their planned gift, the Clarks are looking beyond today to the students of tomorrow. Their generosity ensures that future generations will have the same chance to learn, grow, and find their footing. Hugh and Gayle are not only honoring the role Wake Tech played in their lives, but ensuring its impact endures for years to come.
